The short answer

Typing is slow; talking is fast. New in Taby 1.0.14, Taby types what you say into any app: hold Control + Option on a Mac or Ctrl + Windows key on a PC, speak, and let go. Your speech is turned into text on your own computer, offline, and it’s free.

Write anywhere

One shortcut, three ways to write

Hold ⌃⌥ on a Mac or Ctrl + Win on Windows, or pick your own shortcut, like ⌃⌥W. Speak, let go. Taby works out what you want by itself.

  • Dictate

    “Just talk”

Your words, cleaned up, typed right where your cursor is. In your email, a chat, a document, anywhere.

  • Write for me

“Reply that I can’t make it Friday”

Taby writes the whole message for you and types it in.

  • Fix this

    “Make it shorter”

Select some text first. Taby rewrites it and puts the new version in its place. “Translate to Spanish” works too.

New in Taby 1.0.14, and on from the start. Free with local speech and the Local Brain; Taby Cloud voice and the Cloud Brain are Premium. It never types into password fields. On a Mac, it needs the Accessibility permission.
