Hey Taby

Focus

Block distracting apps and sites when you need to focus

Say “close YouTube, I need to focus”. Taby closes it and keeps it closed for as long as you like. Free, on Mac and Windows.

Taby on a laptop, helping you focus with the AI running right on the computer

The short answer

Blocker apps make you fill in lists and settings. With Taby you just ask: it closes the apps and sites you name, keeps them closed until the time you say, and tells you where your time went. Its AI runs on your own computer, works offline and needs no account.

Say it, it’s done

Ask for quiet, get quiet

  • “Close YouTube, I need to focus”

Closes it, and keeps it closed while you focus.

  • “Block YouTube and Instagram until 6”

Both stay closed until 6 PM, then open again.

  • “Start a 25-minute focus session”

Starts the timer and keeps distracting sites and apps closed until it ends.

  • “Block social media on weekdays, 9 to 5”

Social sites and apps stay closed during work hours, every week.

  • “How long was I on YouTube today?”

Tells you, with the times you used it, from your day on this computer.

  • “When do I procrastinate the most?”

Shows the hours that go to distractions.

  • “What’s blocked right now?”

Lists everything that’s blocked, and until when.

How it helps

A little help, only when you want it

Blocks that really block

Name a site, an app, or a kind like social media. When it opens, Taby closes it within about a second, in Safari, Chrome, Edge and the other browsers people use. Unblock it any time by asking.

On your schedule

Block something for an hour, “until midnight” or “tomorrow at 9”. Or every week, like social media on weekdays from 9 to 5. The Focus page shows everything at a glance.

Focus sessions

Start a 25-minute session, or any length you like. While it runs, distractions stay closed, and if you drift, Taby gives you a friendly nudge within seconds. When time’s up, it’s over.

See where your time went

Ask how long you were on YouTube, or when you drift the most. Taby answers from your day on this computer, and points out patterns, like how often you check Gmail. No judging, just the numbers.

Private by default

Which apps and sites you use is personal. Taby keeps that record on your own computer, and its local AI answers your questions about it right there. It works offline, needs no account, and nothing is used to train models.

Taby’s local AI needs 8 GB of memory or more (a graphics card on Windows). If your computer can’t run it, Taby Cloud does that part instead, under Zero Data Retention.

Quick answers

Focus and blocking questions

Can Taby block websites and apps on my computer?

Yes. Ask it to block a website, an app, or a whole kind like social media. Whenever it comes up, Taby closes it within about a second: it closes the tab or quits the app, and tells you why.

How long does a block last?

As long as you say: for an hour, “until 6”, “until midnight” or “tomorrow at 9”. It can also repeat every week, like weekdays from 9 to 5, or only during your focus sessions.

Which browsers does website blocking work in?

On a Mac: Safari, Chrome, Edge, Brave and Arc. On Windows: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox, Opera, Opera GX, Vivaldi, Yandex, Waterfox, Zen and Arc. Every website block says which address it closes.

How do I unblock something?

Ask Taby to unblock it, or turn it off on the Focus page, which lists everything that’s blocked. Nothing is locked away from you.

What is a focus session?

A timer, 25 minutes unless you say otherwise. While it runs, Taby keeps distracting sites and apps closed and gives you a little nudge within seconds if you drift. You can pause it, add more time or stop it any time.

Can I see how much time I spend on things?

Yes. Ask “how long was I on YouTube today?” or “when do I procrastinate the most?”. Taby answers with the names of your apps and sites and when you used them. It also notices patterns, like how often you check Gmail.

Does it block apps on my phone?

No. Taby works on your Mac or Windows PC, and it can only see and block what happens on that computer. It tells you so if you ask about your phone.

Is my app and website history private?

Yes. The record of which apps and sites you use stays on your computer, and Taby’s local AI answers your questions about it right there. Nothing is used to train models.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Yes, it’s free, and you don’t need an account. Blocking, focus sessions and your activity all work in the free app on Mac and Windows. Taby Cloud is an optional €8.99 a month upgrade with a bigger brain and web search.
